May 2022 is Mental Health Awareness Month
Our mission has always been to help raise awareness and advocate for the needs of children who suffer from anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, which at its very heart starts with mental health.
Now more than ever as the pediatric mental health crisis is at an all time high, it is imperative that you constantly check-in with yourself, your loved ones, and your friends. Ask if they’re okay, ask if they need anything.
As someone who often struggles with anxiety of her own, it is immensely difficult somedays to find it in myself to believe in my capabilities and my knowledge. And sometimes, it'll be the end of the day and I never did find that within myself. And that's okay, because it does not always have to be easy. If it was, it wouldn't be life, wouldn't be living. Life is about taking one step at a time, whether you are sprinting or taking baby steps what matters is to always keep going. Bringing awareness to it is a step in the right direction for many who do not openly discuss their mental health or have not taken the steps to do so before. Ironically,
I recently had COVID-19, right before I had to take my AP exams. I was freaking out, thinking that I had taken these classes and in the end, I was not going to get the credit that I wanted out of them. And it took me freaking out and being completely sick to realize how little I had been focusing on my own well-being. My body shut down because it could not handle the weight that I had been carrying around. So the time I spent getting better was dedicated towards just that–myself. It was wonderful, and it reminded me to slow down and take care of myself more often. Hopefully this May, many of you will take the initiative to do so.
